In Jammu, set in the peaceful Trikuta Mountains, is the sacred Vaishno Devi Temple, filled with spiritual love and devotion to Mata Vaishno Devi, a form of divine feminine power, Shakti.
With its ancient history, this temple is loved by millions, attracting pilgrims who come with deep faith and love, seeking blessings in its calm and uplifting atmosphere.
According to legend, Mata Vaishno Devi was born as a human to uphold dharma and defeat evil. When the demon Bhairon Nath chased her, she hid in the sacred Ardhkuwari Cave and meditated for nine months, gaining strength from her faith.
When she emerged at what is now Bhawan, she revealed her true forms as Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati, defeating the demon in a powerful way. It was a moment of incredible strength and divine energy.
Before leaving her earthly form, the goddess told Bhairon Nath that his salvation lay in worshipping her. This led to the creation of the Bhairon Nath Temple, located just a short distance from Vaishno Devi Bhawan.
For many pilgrims, visiting Bhairon Baba’s temple is an important part of their journey. They believe that honouring both the goddess and Bhairon Baba brings them closer to divine blessings, completing their pilgrimage with hearts full of faith.
It is believed that a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi is not complete without a visit to Bhairon Baba’s temple.
On the first day of your pilgrimage, begin your journey from Jammu Airport or Railway Station. As you travel to Katra, the base town for Vaishno Devi pilgrims, enjoy the stunning views of the Shivalik Range with its beautiful mountains and greenery.
Once you arrive in Katra, take some time to freshen up and experience the lively atmosphere of the town, filled with shops and local treats. Afterward, get ready for your spiritual trek to Vaishno Devi Bhawan, starting at Ban Ganga, just 2 km away. You can choose between walking the 13 km route, riding a pony or palki, or taking a helicopter to Sanjichhat, which is just 2.5 km from the Bhawan. Along the way, make sure to stop at sacred sites such as Ban Ganga, Charan Paduka, and Ardhkuwari Temple.
Each option offers a unique experience, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery and connect with the spiritual significance of these important locations on your journey to Vaishno Devi Bhawan.
At the Bhawan, take a moment to freshen up and offer your prayers as you immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere.
