Wilson Point is the highest spot in Mahabaleshwar, perfect for watching breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the hills and valleys.

Panchgani is famed for Asia’s second-largest plateau, Table Land, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. You’ll find it’s a popular spot for picnics, horse riding, and leisurely walks.

Itinerary

Day 1Travel from Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar & sightseeing ( 235 KM - 5 hours 20 minutes)

Arrive at Mumbai airport/railway station and travel to Mahabaleshwar. At a distance of 300 m from Mahabaleshwar Temple and 6 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, Krishnabai Temple is an old temple situated a few metres away from Panch Ganga Temple in Old Mahabaleshwar.
At a distance of 6 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, Mahabaleshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple situated in the Old Mahabaleshwar in Satara district of Maharashtra. Mahabaleshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the important pilgrimage sites for Hindus. The temple was built by Chandrarao More in the 16th century and is a model of the Hemadant architectural style of South India.
At a distance of 6 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, Panch Ganga Temple is a holy site situated near Mahabaleshwar Temple.
Visit Elphinstone Point is one of the famous viewpoints situated atop a hill near Arthur Seat Point in Mahabaleshwar. Arthur Seat Point is the most popular viewpoint in Mahabaleshwar.
Arthur Seat Point is located at a height of 1340 m and is surrounded by the deep Savitri gorge on one side and a lush green plateau on the other side. Arthur Seat Point area has 6 points in total, Arthur’s Seat Point, Echo Point, Hunter Point, Tiger Spring Point, Window Point and Malcom Point.
At a distance of 3 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, Sunset Point is one of the most popular viewpoints of Mahabaleshwar and is popularly known as Mumbai Point or Bombay Point. This is the place from where people can view the magnificent sunset over the valleys below at Mahabaleshwar.

Day 2Mahabaleshwar Sightseeing

After breakfast, get ready to explore more of Mahabaleshwar. At a distance of 4 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, Lodwick Point is previously known as Sydney Point. This point lies at an elevation of 4087 feet above sea level. The Lodwick Point area has 2 points; Lodwick Point and Elephant’s Head Point.
Visit to Venna Lake, which is a manmade lake situated in Mahabaleshwar. Venna Lake has an area of about 28 acres having a periphery around 7-8 km, and is fed by repeated springs. Pratap Singh Garden is situated on the banks of Venna Lake.
At a distance of 7 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, Kate’s Point and Elephant’s Head Point are the most picturesque viewpoints of Mahabaleshwar in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Kate’s Point area has 3 points in total; they are Kate’s Point, Echo Point, and Needle Hole Point or Elephant’s Head Point. Kate’s Point is named after the then British governor Sir John Malcolm’s daughter. The original name of the point is Nake Khind and is situated at an altitude of 1290 m. Elephant’s Head Point or Needle Hole Point is another popular vantage point in Mahabaleshwar, situated next to Kate’s Point.
At a distance of 6 km from Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, 116 km from Pune & 252 km from Mumbai, Lingmala Waterfall is a mesmerising waterfall located at top of the Venna Valley in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Situated at an altitude of 1278 m, Lingmala Waterfall is formed by the Venna River.
One can visit Mapro Garden which is situated at Gureghar on Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani road in Satara district. Overnight stay at Mahabaleshwar.

Day 3Visit Panchgani & travel to Satara

Today after breakfast, check out from the hotel and head towards Panchgani, which is just 20 Km away from Mahabaleshwar. On the way, visit Parsi Point, a scenic viewpoint situated on the way to Mahabaleshwar in Satara district of Maharashtra. It is one of the good points at Panchgani to get a picturesque view. Parsi Point offers spectacular views of the mountains, Krishna valley and the backwaters of Dhom dam. This popular picnic spot has derived its name from the fact that in earlier days, it was a favourite spot of the Parsi Community.
At a distance of 2 km from Panchgani Bus Stand, Sydney Point is one of the famous viewpoints in Panchgani hill station. Sydney Point is situated on a hill that faces Krishna Valley. It was named after Sir Sidney Beckwarth, Commander in Chief, who succeeded Sir John Malcolm as Bombay’s Governor in 1830.
You can visit Devil’s Kitchen which is situated to the south of Table Land in Panchgani hill station. According to mythology, this is the place where Pandavas of Mahabharata stayed here for a while during their exile. This place was used to cook their food. Some people claim that Pandavgad Caves are also built by them and bear their name.
Nearby, Table Land is the highest point in Panchgani and is situated at an elevation of 4550 feet above sea level. Table Land is a vast expanse of flat laterite rock surrounded by hills hence the name Table Land. This volcanic plateau is Asia’s second longest mountain plateau after the Tibetan plateau.
Later in the evening, travel to Satara which is 50 km from Panchgani approx takes 1 hour. Overnight stay at Satara Hotel.

Day 4 Satara sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to explore Satara. You can visit to Natraj Mandir, also known as Uttara Chidambaram Temple, is a popular temple located off NH4, connecting Satara and Solapur. The Natraj Mandir is dedicated to Lord Natraj, a manifestation of Lord Shiva performing the Tandava dance.
At a distance of 5 km from Satara Bus Station, Sangam Mahuli and Kshetra Mahuli are two sacred villages situated at the confluence of Krishna and Venna Rivers in Satara district of Maharashtra.Sangam Mahuli is one of the popular pilgrimage places to visit in Satara. The other side of the river Krishna is called Kshetra Mahuli.
After that visit Ajinkyatara, which is an ancient hill fort situated on one of the seven mountains surrounding the city of Satara in the Sahyadri Mountains of Maharashtra. Situated atop Ajinkyatara Mountain, at an altitude of 3,300 feet, Ajinkyatara Fort offers a panoramic view of Satara City.
At a distance of 24 km from Satara, 37 km from Mahabaleshwar, and 50 km from Panchgani, the Kaas Plateau, also known as the Kas Pathar, is a vast volcanic lateritic plateau situated in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Popularly known as the Plateau of Flowers, Kaas Plateau is one of the popular picnic spots among nature lovers during late monsoons.
At a distance of 6 km from Kas Pathar, Vajrai Falls is a picturesque waterfall located near Kas Flower Valley in Satara district of Maharashtra. Vajrai Falls is a three-tier waterfall cascading down from a height of around 853 feet (260 m). This is a perennial waterfall but is very spectacular during monsoons.

Day 5 Satara sightseeing & Departure to Mumbai

After having breakfast, prepare to check out from the hotel. Today is the departure day, but before that we will explore more of Satara (if time permits). At a distance of 16 km from Satara, Sajjangad is an ancient hill fort and a pilgrimage place located near Satara in Maharashtra. It is one of the top places to visit in Satara and is a protected monument. Sajjangarh Fort was earlier known as Aashwalayangad and was built by the Bahamani Emperors in between 1347-1527 AD.
After that visit to Thoseghar Falls is a popular waterfall located at Thoseghar village in Satara district of Maharashtra. It is one of the top waterfalls in Maharashtra and also one of the highest waterfalls in India. Thoseghar waterfall is a scenic spot located at the edge of the Konkan region. The waterfall drops through a series of cascades with a total height of about 500 m. This is a seasonal waterfall which is only seen in monsoon and drops into a deep gorge.
At a distance of 6 km from Thoseghar Falls, Chalkewadi Windmill Farm is one of the largest windmill farms in Asia situated at Chalkewadi. Chalkewadi Wind Energy Project in Satara was developed with the intention of generating clean energy. There are hundreds of windmills on the adjoining hills.
