Gujarat, known as the “Jewel of Western India,” gets its name from “Gurjaradesa,” which means “land of the Gurjars.” This name highlights the rich history of the Gurjar tribe that ruled the area in the 8th and 9th centuries.
You will enjoy traditional dances like Garba and Dandiya Raas during Navratri, and admire beautiful handicrafts like Patola silk sarees and Bandhani fabrics.
Gujarat is filled with amazing historical sites. Rani ki Vav is a stepwell with beautiful carvings, and Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park has old forts and temples that show the area’s rich history. You’ll also be impressed by the stunning Sun Temple at Modhera.
You’ll love Gujarati cuisine with its delicious dishes like dhokla, thepla, and khandvi, making each meal a special treat.
You’ll start your journey from Vadodara Airport or Railway Station, where you’ll be transferred to your pre-booked hotel in Vadodara.
You can explore the UNESCO World Heritage site, Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, and then visit Sayaji Gardens. Enjoy the beautiful park, see animals at the zoo, watch shows at the planetarium, and check out the museum.
The next day, after a hearty breakfast, take a 1-2 hour drive to the impressive Statue of Unity in Kevadia. While there, visit the Valley of Flowers, enjoy the views from the observation deck, and learn about India’s history at the museum.
You can visit the Sardar Sarovar Dam and enjoy the evening light and sound show, which tells the story of Sardar Patel’s legacy.
